Old Girl

Welcome back to Banana Splits! New or old, I'm glad you're here to check out my second story featuring:  banana or ice cream.

Enjoy!
I watch her, walk around the cafeteria, hoping to find a seat. She goes around the tables a third time but there's no seats anywhere.

She never came to my table. I don't blame her.

"You checkin' out the new girl, Jason?" Kevin whispered in my ear, causing me to jump.

"Geez man. I told you not to do that," I shove him back a bit so I have room to breathe.

"And her name is Josie," I whisper back to him.

"She's hot!" My older brother, Michael shout across the table. Josie looked over. We made eye contact and then she looked away.

"Show some respect, Michael," I silently growl at him. He puts him hands up as if he's surrendering.

"Well sorry...you gonna hit that though?" Yeah, that's Michael for ya.

I just look at him.

I watch Josie struggle to find a seat, while we have four open seats at our table.

"HEY BROS!" Harris plops down with his lunch.

Three.

"Cassidy and Brinkley are throwing a pool party for their birthday and they want us to 'help them plan' this week," Justin takes a seat as well.

"Those have to be some of the hottest girls in the school," Michael announced.

"Yeah...they are hot!" Kevin exclaimed.

Two.

"AYO KEVIN!" Tyson calls out. He takes the seat next to Kevin and they exchange a handshake.

One.

"Wassup lil man," Tyson grabs the cookie off of my tray and eats it in one bite. He pushes his chair back and kicks his legs up on the table.

"So me and Maisie..." He smirked and I already knew.

Tyson gave him a bro hug. "PROUD OF YOU."

I smirked a bit and shook my head.

"Whatchu over there shakin' yo head for?" He comes over and takes the seat next to me.

"I see how you lookin at peachy-'

"Peachy?"

'She got back Jason,"' he whispers to the table. They all look over at Josie.

"True, true," Harris says. We all nod our heads.

"You right," I can't lie.

"Yeah, yeah. But what I was sayin' was, when you gonna slide?"

I look over at Josie and she dumps her lunch in the trash. And is heading towards the door when loud mouth calls her over.

"HEY JOSIE. COME HERE," Tyson stands up.

Josie turns around and makes her way over to us. She looks like a model.

Dang, she is hot.

"That walk is just..." Tyson whispers in my ear.

"Angelic," I finish.

She stops in front of Tyson. Smiles, waves, and tucks her waves behind her ears.

"Hey," she says as she approaches the table.

We're all too busy admiring her that we almost forget to speak. Until Tyson helps us out.

"Dang girl, you got looks to kill!" Josie blushes and smiles some more.

"Thank you Tyson," Her voice is so beautiful I can't help but smile.

"How do you know my name?"

"We had 4th period together, AP Biology."

"...OH YEAH. You were the girl that read out the passages. Pretty voice."

Tyson needs to back off my girl who is not my girl but who actually is my girl.

"Yeah...thanks. So what did you need," she looks over at me and smiles, and so do I. She takes the seat next to me.

WHY DOES SHE KEEP LOOKING AT ME...

"Oh right. How do you feel about Homecoming?" Tyson asked.

"I chose the theme and I'm decorating. So, I always go, for free," she strongly replies.

"I can have a plus one too," She flips her nice hair.

"See, my man Jason over here," Tyson makes his way to stand behind me.

"He has a thing for you. And he don't like NOBODY."

"At one point, I thought he was into guys. But then I said nah, not my little brother," Michael always has to make it clear that I'm his brother, little brother.

"Same here," Harris adds in.

"Guys, he's had like two girlfriends," Kevin adds in.

Silence.

"Oh yeah..." Michael whispers.

"Thanks Kev," I say.

"I got you bud," He stands up and pats my back.

"Back to what I was sayin': how do you feel about having Jason be your...plus one?"

Josie looks back at me. I blush and look down.

Why am I like this?

"OK...That sounds really nice. You'll just have to meet me there," She says as she stands up, looking at her phone.

"I just need your number. Actually, just search me up on Instagram. My username is just Josie with an 'x' at the end." She started to back up.

"Why you in such a rush Josie," I call after her.

I have to pick up 12 inflatable bananas. For the decoration." She turns around and heads out the cafeteria.

"TEXT ME JASON,"

I may be weird for saying this but I love when she calls my name.

"Nah, that's not weird," Tyson says as they laugh.

I blush and smile.

"Josie seems so open for a new student," Kevin says.

"Oh, she's not new. She was in this district since fourth grade. My class. She went to private school from fifth to tenth and then started online schooling but didn't like it. If you saw her then, you'll recognize her instantly," Harris explains to us.

"WHY THE HECK ARE YOU JUST NOW TELLING US," Michael yells.

"Calm down, it's not that serious." Harris stands up and grabs his bag.

So we went to the same elementary school and I didn't notice her? I pull out my phone and open Instagram.

I have about 100 DMs. I click the search and search up Josie.

SHE HAS LIKE 20K FOLLOWERS. But no posts.

Her bio reads: Josilynn Lee Chilombo, starting over with the leaf emoji.

I follow her and click message but she already messaged me.

'Hendrick how don't you remember me? We had play dates every Friday!'

How the heck does she know my middle name? But wait...OH!

"Oh my gosh I remember her now!" I laugh out loud.

I reply: 'Lol, I remember you, lil miss yellow. Is that still your favorite color?'

We all get up and follow Harris out the cafeteria and towards the gym.

She texts: 'Idk, do you still watch nick jr. even though you said you'll grow out of it?'

Well played Josie.

AND THERE IT IS. Did you enjoy 'Old Girl'? I haven't written from a male point of view before so I went for it. I bet you weren't expecting that ending.

- I have always been wanting to create a really nice blog and I think this is a great start. What I learned from commenting on and making blogs is that you can put all or nothing into it. You can be serious and give people feedback that are real or be basic and say 'nice blog'. I put all into my writing and I enjoyed writing them. Blogs are important because it gives you the chance to share whatever you want with many different people. And without blogs, we wouldn't really know how people across the world feel about things that we are familiar with. My favorite blog I've read from my classmates' is Ziaire's Track Blog because I felt like I could relate to things she said and she wasn't boring or fake. One that stuck in my head is Song Writer for Losers because of the title. Thank you for reading my blog once again! -
